We hope everyone will continue to complete their reading logs for the last couple of months of our reading incentive. Children who complete seven out of eight months will get to go on the field trip to Port Discovery in May. We really enjoyed having Mr. Waterhouse come to our classrooms and teach us about some of our favorite authors. We loved learning his songs and had so much fun at reading night with him. Thank you to all children and parents who came out to reading night.

We have begun our first science unit which is about Earth in Space. In this unit the children will learn about the planets, the moon, the layers of the earth, and changes in the earth's surface. We have some fun hands on activities the children will be doing during this unit. They are very excited about starting science. Make sure to ask your child what they are learning about the earth.

As the weather gets better and outside activities increase we realize that it is sometimes hard to get homework completed. The math and spelling that your child has each night is a review of the skills we are working on in class. Homework should ideally take about 20 minutes or less to complete. Please continue to monitor your child and make sure that homework is completed each night. Thank you for working with us to ensure your child's success.

Miss Muir

Ann Muir is in her 24th year at Havre de Grace Elementary School. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Towson University and received her masters in reading from Loyola. She is a lifelong resident of Havre de Grace and graduated from Havre de Grace High School. Mrs. Muir has a daughter in eleventh grade at Havre de Grace. She loves being in the community and working with the people of Havre de Grace.

Mrs. Bolen

Joann Bolen is a fifth year teacher at Havre de Grace Elementary School. She has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Towson University. Mrs. Bolen has been a resident of Havre de Grace since 1992 and graduated from Havre de Grace High School. She has a son in sixth grade at HdGMS and a beautiful little daughter.
