March

The first few months of 2008 have been full of excitement and learning!  We had a special guest visitor who came and taught us about ballet.  Ms. Nora, my sister-n-law, joined us to share her experiences as a dancer and ballet teacher.  In fact, she even taught us the Dance of the Mice from The Nutcracker.  Thanks for visiting Ms. Nora!  We had such a great time!

Check out these pictures from our performance of The Nutcracker Ballet!

Our next theme of study was Digging Up The Past.  This unit helps your child learn that a long time ago only plants and dinosaurs lived on the earth.  At the end of this unit, your child now knows what a paleontologist does and what tools a paleontologist uses to gather clues about the way dinosaurs lived a long time ago.  See pictures of our dinosaur projects!

Dinosaur Fun!

In addition to learning about dinosaurs, here are the skills we will be learning in Language Arts and Math:

ü Illustrations also tell the story and match the print.

ü Recognizing, naming, and constructing the letters G,g, P, p, U, and u.

ü Telling the beginning sound heard in a word.

ü Listening to factual books and recalling some of the information.

ü Recognizing the number 6, counting to 6, and making sets of six objects.

ü Putting the numbers 0-6 in order.

ü Adding one or taking away one from a set and telling how many are in it.

ü Ordering objects by length and weight.

ü Copying and extending a 2-item pattern.

ü Sorting objects and telling the rule.

Thanks for all that you do to help your children!
