April-May
April has been dubbed, "MSA Month" and that it is! It has been my great honor to have worked with and supported students as they have done their very best to represent themselves and our school in the most wonderful light. I have also had the privilege of working with some of our groups during this testing period.
The Channel 4, Kids Korner News program continues to grow and flourish with our fifth graders. April has also seen the introduction of some fourth graders as interns in the program! Welcome to Josh and Ryan. They were a great help while our fifth graders were adventuring at Harford Glen.
First grade readers and math students continue to impress and astound. What a terrific group! Second graders have so much going for their group. Readers, readers, readers! JGB will continue to help them become better at discussing and thinking about their reading.
Third graders have been involved in the testing and have not been able to meet as frequently as we'd like. However, their after school Engineering Challenge group has gone on and made great progress! Their Safe Racer research and reports have been completed and turned into the BMI. The car has been safety tested and Eggbert the second has made it through. Eggbert the first, wasn't as lucky, but he taught us well. It is always exciting to test, make changes and re-test our car to get the best we can out of it. Our "Dynamic Ducks" crew are already winners! We hope to have many to cheer us on at the challenge on Saturday the 26th.
The fourth grade fossil project, Fossils Rock, was completed and presented to all of 4th grade this week. We were very proud of the boys! Janie Cape, our young author in 4th, did a fantastic job as she completed her NINE page story (with several chapters), The Adventures of Otto and Poppy. It was a great story!

Mrs. Fraer is in her 22nd year of teaching. This is year 6 in Gifted Education and year 13 at Havre de Grace. Mrs. Fraer is also the webmaster for our school and the technology liaison, working to provide up-to-date technology and training for our students and our teachers. She lives in Abingdon with her husband, German Shepherd, and two sons; one in college at one at HdGHS!
